Transduction (Simondon)

Transduction is a concept introduced by French philosopher Gilbert Simondon. It refers to a process of energetic transfer that establishes a new dynamic structure by reorganizing and transferring information across different domains. Simondon introduces the notion of transduction to describe how individuation operates. Transduction is the fundamental operator in ontogenesis, a process by which an entity evolves from a pre-individual state to become progressively more structured and differentiated. Transduction highlights how change and development occur through internal resonances and adjustments within a system, rather than by external influence, emphasizing the dynamic interplay between potential and realization in the emergence of new forms and structures.
